It blooms at the autumn equinox, when families in Japan visit their ancestors’ graves, and its flowers and leaves never appear at the same time, so it became the flower of parting. The back carries three spider lilies in bare black linework, rising on long leafless stems in front of a red sun. 彼岸花 runs down the side in brush script over a red 無 (mu, “nothing”) stamp, finished with the FORMLESS wordmark and NO LEAVES. NO GOODBYES. On the front, a red 無 seal with FORMLESS and HIGANBANA sits on the left chest.
